1. Are We in a Recession, and Should It Really Matter
  • Over the past year, the economy has dominated the headlines. There’s the mortgage crisis. Iraq. Consumer confidence is shaky. And the greenback is down, too. Anyone who’s traveled to Europe lately can attest to that.
  • Too many companies will get caught up in the “recession panic” and cut back on product quality and customer experiences.
  • It’s affected the marketing business, too. Marketing is all too often seen as a current period expense, rather than the long-term investment it really is.
  • So how can we get out of the recession panic? Our recommendation is to stand up and fight this recessional mindset. Don’t cut back on service or product quality. And while we’re certainly biased here, now’s the time to increase your advertising spending — to steal some market share from competitors who have reduced theirs.
  • Maintain your clear vision, sharpen your skills and create true customer experiences that deliver long-term loyalty. Why? Because it’s your customers that will ultimately decide the fate of your company – not the economy.

2. The Best Example of Social Media: BigThink.com for Big Ideas

  • Ever curse at your blinking cursor? It’s there, just flashing... taunting you to come up with a big idea. And sometimes, you’re just tapped out.
  • Now there’s a better way to tap in to the collective brainpower of thousands of creative individuals. Take a look at BigThink.com. It brings together people like you who have big ideas that want to share them with other big thinkers. BigThink.com gives you an opportunity to put your big idea out there in the world and become part of a network of other big thinkers. Next time you’re stuck, give it a shot.

3. The Business Model of Netflix: Is It for Your Company?

  • Millions of Americans delight in that little red mailer full of suspense, romance, drama and comedy. But how did Netflix manage to change the way we do movie rentals?
  • One word: Innovation. They married movie rentals and online shopping with some super-impressive logistics, shipping and warehousing. And then they leveraged the United States Postal Service in a time of declining mail volumes.
  • Simply brilliant. The service is inexpensive. Fast. And exactly what customers want. And now, the company is even offering instant access to movies delivered immediately to your computer. So here’s the implication for your business.
  • Is there a way to restructure or even rethink your company to offer your product to those customers who want it faster and want to avoid visiting a store and all the hassles that go along with it? Think about it.

4. The 60-Second Close: The Faster and the Better

  • Have you ever heard one of your customers say “they want it slower”? People seem to want everything faster... and better. What about your company? What could you offer that’s faster and better?
  • Think FedEx Saturday Service. Or First Overnight. Both are extensions of an already fast service. And both provide additional revenue.
  • If it’s time for a change that enables you to keep pace with your customers and give them what they are looking for, then give us a call. We can help you get there ... faster and better than ever.
